Over a yr. ago I ordered & bought a brand new upper and lower set from J. Carter. ( 1946 chev big bolt ) It was unpainted or unchromed or polished,and a good thing. On the box it said this set was made in Argentia(spl?) and the name says it all. With shipping I paid almost $400.00. It was a good thing it was unfinished. It took me over a half of day and I finally used a wire welder to fill in the gaps around the edges in places and then polished it down. I needed to do the filler, primer and high build-up and sanding thing to get it ready for paint.
