The green stuff has a thickness range from about .0005" to .0025", which should span the clearance range you need. I really like to see oil clearance somewhere around .001" to .0015", but you can get by with .002" or more if you use a heavier than normal oil like 20W-50. Thew Federal-Mogul bearing specification manual lists oil clearance for a 250 rod bearing from .0005" to .0032", but I can tell you from long experience that anything over .002" is going to result in a noisy, short-life engine.
