My 261...from 1958 came out of a 5 ton fuel delivery truck. If you got the GM lines they look like power steerring lines..... brass fitting into the block....a section of 1/2 steel line bent at 90 degrees and the steel line is connected to a section of 1 ich rubber hose line just long enough to reach the filter IF it is mounted on the intake manifold.
Looking at the engine from the carb side... the first line is the outlet from the oil gallery,,, six inches to the right of that one is the second line.... it carries the filtered oil back to the block and it has a small fitting into the heavy brass connector near the block... that connects to the 1/8 oil pressure gauge......
Now the holes on the block are standard 3/4 inch pipe thread.... if you are not a stickler for original accuracy.... you can buy brass fitting that are intended to accept a 3/8 or half inch rubber hose.....that fitting will screw into the block and you can attach a section of hydraulic hose with a clamp to the brass fitting and take it to the filter where ever you decide to mount it.... just be careful to run it away from the heat of the exhaust manifold and pipe.
Just out of curiosity how much did the original hose cost you???? What size/make of carb is on that engine....
CAUTION..... do not...repeat do not... try to run the engine with plugs in the holes while you decide to figure out where to install that filter.
Your engine is probably a FULL flow oil filter system...... if the holes are plug you will fry your engine...... in a pinch you could run a line from one hole to the other and run the engine...but DO NOT run with the holes plugged.
Now go get that thing fixed up and running!!!!!
