In the preceding, as the choke arm (top) is pulled from left to right to close the choke butterfly, the extension of the choke arm pulls the vertical slotted rod to the left. This motion causes the idle screw (to the left on the throttle arm - bottom) to rotate, which partially opens the throttle, and speed up the engine.
