Check the compression. It should be relatively even across all the cylinders, and if you pump some oil in the cylinder (through the spark plug hole) the compression should not increase significantly.
Check the ignition system. Is the spark even on every cylinder? If you switch wires around, does the problem change? Is the condensor OK? Many times a bad condensor can cause these kinds of problems. Is there dirt tracks in the distributor cap? If you put a grounded metal object near the plug wires does the spark jump from them to the metal object? How about if you run it past each of the plug wires? | | |
