in kansas with a bill of sale before 1949 they just make a new title no questions asked, but after 1949 a bill of sale gets a salvage title -- I think,
on my 63 i have a nebraska title, the orginal owners signed it and left it as an open title, i bought the truck from the guy who bought it from the orginal owners, i went to go have it inspected an found out i must have the guy i bought it from sign it and file for title then sign it over to me (and one of us is going to have to pay back taxes). that is lot of back tracking. with the work i have put in it i will not have him file for a title in his name because then there is no proof the truck is mine. i do have the bill of sell but he would have the title so while picking up my brothers title i asked a lady at state DMV what would be the easiest way to file for my title i told her the problem and that i have a bill of sale. she told me to go have the truck reinpected show them the bill of sale and do not tell them about the title, and they will file for a salavage title
