The nice thing about the older fuel pumps is that they can be taken apart (carefully) and cleaned out or rebuilt.You should be able to take a line loose and blow back into the tank. Does yours have a glass bowl on top of the fuel-pump?
There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.
