I had a 90' Silverado with the 305 in it, and when I sold it last year it had 280,000 miles and had never had the heads off of it. Still had great oil pressure and didn't leak oil. It got me from point A to point B very reliably, and if what you want is a driver instead of something to roast the tires, that would be a good deal.
