I've got a Carter YF on my '46 216 which I rebuilt a couple months ago due to starting issues. It functions extremely well now. You shouldn't have to pump the accelerator at all to get your truck started. I don't on mine. I just pull the choke out all the way and hit the starter. She fires off every time. If its cold instead of 2-3 seconds its maybe 5-7 seconds to fire her up! I also spend the extra money and burn high test. A rebuild should definately help!!
