I have a '49 1/2-ton with a 3-speed transmission. It leaks like crazy when either in reverse or idle. Otherwise, no leak. You can see the streak start where I put it in idle down the driveway or when backing into the garage. Someome mentioned the idler gear, which makes some sense, but I am not sure why that would cause a leak. I see the "stream" coming out of the hole in the cover over the flywheel. Honestly not even sure whether it is leaking gear oil from the tranny or engine oil. I did have the rear main seal replaced a while back.
Any ideas?
