I am very sorry that your results aren't what you wanted. I just used the Bill Hirsch high heat rattle cans. There was no thinning at all. Just lots of prep to make sure there was absolutely no grease, dirt or oil on the surface to be painted. I am sure that you prepped everything as well. As for the long term of the paint, I am only taking the word of a couple of professional restorers. I have yet to put my painted engine back in my pickup yet. Perhaps I was very lucky to get the results that I did. I hope that the next paint that you put on your engine goes better than this time. Good luck with your restoration.
