I purchased a "kick down cable" with the ataching items that bolt to a stud on the carburetor to hold the cable. This is what "kicks it down". To get it to "come out of lock up" when you put your brakes on can be done a couple different ways. I wired a switch into my brake light so that when I put on brakes it would energize the switch and it in turn would kick off the overdrive.
Some do that and even add "security" by hooking up a vacumm line to pull it off...and some just use the vacumn by itself. Hang around here and some more guys will chip in....then make a decision on the way you want to do it.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
