Not only do I remember vacuum assist brakes but I remember the 46 oz. OJ cans that were used as vacuum reservoirs.

The Powerglides with early sixes would barely get out of thier own way. Pushing on the gas pedal compares to stepping on a wet sponge. But I also remember them behind the big W block engines and taking a LOT of abuse and standing up to it. Something that could never be said of the Buick DynaFlow or the Chevy TurboGlide.
