Those early automatics were much more primative than todays models in driveability; although they were probably more reliable than most of todays units.

Like todays automatics the early ones sucked down the gasoline. And I still don't like them. Manual choke, manual steering, manual brakes, manual transmission AND GOOD FUEL ECONOMY for me!
