There is a lot of differences between the 34 & 35 engines to name a few; location of ign. coil is on cowl in 34 and on the tappet cover in 35, 34 has splash oiling to rods, 35 has squirt tubes and splash, 34 has smaller water pump and hoses (1.25"), 35 a bigger pump and hoses (1.5"). Block on 34 has a boss on driver side middle (same block as car that uses this for engine mounting), oil distributor is different, bigger on 35, inside cylinder compression ratio is lower on 34 than 35, Harmonic dampener is different, 34 does not front crankshaft oil seal only a slinger, 35 has a cork seal, Valves and head are different with 33-34 being almost the same, 35 and 36 are the same. 36 is almost a new engine with full cylinder block cooling, 34-35 is only top half of cylinder water cooled, 36 has a bigger water pump and rear pump baffle is cast in instead of a pressed in as 34-35 are, distributor and oil pump drive tang is reversed in 36. The 36 engine was a replacement engine for the 35.
