Assuming that there is no X-member or anything in the way, does the oil pan just unbolt and fall off like a stovebolt? I can leave the front cover and stuff on, right? Sounds like stupid question time, but I've never pulled a pan on a SBC before.

Is it OK to unbolt a rod cap, examine the bearings and torque it back in place?
