I don't know where your located by in So Cal. They have a web site that specilizes in old engines. Egge or Egg. They have and can do should you have the need. I personally would go for for the do it yourself route, however as mentioned it really may cost alot more in the long run, But you won't get the experience. Then again think of what your really good at and concentrate on that. Put like that have it done. But then look at the fine mess I've gotten myself into. I don't follow my own advice HA.
