that coiled up spring tightens when you turn one direction, loosens the other - may be to hold against the weight coming down .... if you need one I got lots
it's not really tooooo hard to take all the guts out and reinstall them, just slightly frustrating cuz there's not much room to work, you can do it :hammering:
