Bill - I missed this at first - sounds like the regulator arm pins have come off the sash track - or the track may be rotten

here\'s the regulator complete in the up position - it mounts [4 screws] at an angle - the peg on the large main arm goes in the track attached to the bottom of the window glass frame lower sash, and one end of the 'mobile' arm does too - the other end of the small arm goes into a track higher up

I think originally they had a small spring clip in the track to prevent the rollers coming out - if you need more visuals, I can scan the assembly manual pages, but what you're gonna have to do is take it all apart and see what's broke ohwell
