you mean the coil of semi rigid felt channel that fits around the side window or the rubber the goes on the vent side of the division bar?
the rivets on the division bar are to hold the vent side rubber seal w/ the rigid metal core, not the felt channel - if you're replacing the vent seals, the rivets need to be drilled/cut out [there are replacements available from the dealers] so that old metal piece can be removed and that part done before the felt channel goes in, and it covers the rivets on the door glass side of the division bar - the 'whisker' part is the straight felt pieces that go along the bottom of the door window
