I think the general sentiment of the posts here is this; you have to start at the top of your check list and work down. Find some dope on the timing and set it properly, now you know that's correct. Verifty the point gap and quality of cap, rotor, wires etc, now thats off the list. Keep working away, making sure each system is perfect, through this process you will eleminate most variables and end up with one item which is the problem. Find a manual or spec sheet for your rig..adjust it to the recommended settings.
