Don't give up on the carburator yet! Install a thick heat isolator gasket under the carb. It will help keep it cool, also install a pressure regulator in the fuel line. You shouldn't need one if you are running a stock fuel pump, but they do aid in trouble shooting. Turn the pressure down to 2-3 psi and see if it helps. Is your fuel pump or filter set up for fuel return? Most of the 60's vehicles had a return line which took pressure off the needle and seat. Is the fuel line running right up next to something hot? this will cause the pressure to rise and flood over. Is the carb over full with fuel after is does this, or did all the fuel drain out? The well plugs underneathe could very well be leaking. Pull the top off and look next time. Joe
