Moly rings once done are done!AND you only have to run em a very short time rich to kill them
Cast iron does make sense but you need a multi-piece LOW TENSION oil ring
If you ever wondered how to 'Low Tech' test low tension rings:
Put the piston tin the bore w/rings push it to the bottom and drag it back with a fishing scale
Again use WD-40 on the rings
No I'm not gonna tell you what the number shouldbe!
Every builder has some secrets and likes/dislikes
I can tell you that I have mixed and matched oil ring sets and sizes to get numbers I like

One more thing....the piston goes in upside down and you pull it back up by the wrist pin
