I've used Deves rings for years
The key to 'No smoke'is the oil ring tension and the bore finish
I've never been happy with a one piece cast iron oil ring compression rings are good
Tony's right..the machinist has to do his job
I use a little WD-40 on the ring lands and the rings are seated while your assembling the motor and turning it
The 302 has what ever gmc put in for the Army it uses some oil pint between changes...The 228 had Deves never used a drop
One problem with moly rings is that the dont like a
fuel rich situation!!I you get a stuck float or just don't have the carb dialed in yet you may say goodbye to their effectiveness
