Thanks for the help, 46 Inprogress. John did a pretty good job in describing how it all works and is going to supply the missing brake rod. My biggest problem is that long spring between the mounting bracket and the lug & clip that attach to the parking brake shoe lever. Did yours come with that spring? I keep thinking that it's not supposed to be there. A friend who knows something about these old trucks is coming down this weekend and I'll have him take a look at it. I also wrote Jim Carter, but haven't heard back from them. I'll keep you posted and will let you know how it goes.
