I have notice that with my truck I have a similar problem. I have yet to take notice to how quickly this happens as I don't get to work on my truck as often as I would like. However, I have a clear fuel filter placed in front of the carb. When ever I let the truck sit for a while (usually a couple of days). The filter is empty. I suspect that the Carb (Rodchester B) is leaking. I have fuel in the fuel bowl of the fuel pump.

I suspect willib that you have a combination of things happening. One is heat is vaporizing some of the fuel, secondly you maybe leaking some fuel, and lastly the fuel pump may have a faulty check valve. I replaced my fuel pump last year and it cost me less then $20.00 at the local Ma and Pa parts store. Hope this helps and good luck.
