Now if I understand the original post "The four shoes in one box had linings longer than the other."
Olblu49 has 2 sets of brake shoes. One set of four is longer then the other set of 4.
If it were me I would put the longer set on the front brakes. As they do most of the braking. I would not mix and match lengths between the boxes.
