I may have posted this before but I forget(easily). I bought brake shoes for my 49 front and rear. Raybestos 141PG. The four shoes in one box had linings longer than the other. As the 49 shoes are the same on both sides of the axle I could always put the longer set on the front and the shorter on the rear. Someone said I should split the difference and put the longer lined shoes on the backing plate facing the front of the truck (front and rear) and someone suggested the longer lined shoes should go on the backing plates facing the rear of the truck. I am easily confused. I think this might apply on bendix brakes where one shoe is longer.
