I recently ordered armrests for my '56 from Classic Parts of America. They are imported by Counterpoint Automotive and I imagine all the rest of the vendors sell the same ones. There was a problem with the template provided.

I sent Classic Parts an Email detailing the problem:

I recently ordered 2 armrests, #19-631. These come with a template for drilling holes in the door panel. The hole spacing on the template is wrong. The aft hole is correctly placed, 7⅛" from the aft edge of the panel. However the forward hole is shown 5½" from the aft hole. The holes in the armrest are 6" apart. I discovered this after drilling my first panel. I had to elongate the forward hole to install the armrest.

There's really no harm done as the armrest covers the hole but it is frustrating to have to remove the panel again to elongate the hole. You really should provide correct templates.
If any of you order armrests be sure to correct your template before drilling.
