In Michigan, I'm pretty sure the law states you must have side mirrors but not necessarily a rearview mirror. Not sure about Mississippi. Check with your local constabulary. They will tell you for sure.
ETA: Some states have an exemption for classic/antique/historical vehicles that reads something along the lines of "if it didn't have it when it was new, you don't have to have it now". | | |
