New gal, Don't go pullin' out too many of your hairs just yet. I actually enjoyed trying to figure out my old truck when I first got it. My '53 has a 235 in it, yet they say that the 235's came in the 2 tons and up that year. There is a reason for having a 3 speed in your truck, but you have to find out why. All the components in your 'bolt have numbers on it and with some research, things hopefully will fall into place. Good luck, when your truck is finished, it will be that much more rewarding. As they say, Rome wasn't built in a day.
