I got to work on my 48 for a few hours Saterday and Sunday. Saterday was absolutly terrible. I cut and re-welded the drive shaft about a 1/4" to short so I thought I would wire in the new gauges. As I proceeded to do that the insulative cover on the wires proceeded to turn to a fine powder exposing the bare wire. I figured I would start the truck and let it run for a while with the fresh gas I had put in it. The starter died on me but not befor it cranked just eniough to let me know the oil gauge line had broke so it could properly oil my interior. before I left I did find out why the Truck would not start. The coil had no spark. Sunday I re-wired the coil and got it to run. At least the weekend was not an entire loss....
