This discussion came up a year or so ago, and I remember what one fellow said here about an eMail he'd gotten from a guy who dealt in old truck parts.
I can't quote it exactly, and i'm too tired and lazy at the moment to try and search for it, but the general gist of of the quote was this:
We don't ever really 'own' these treasures, we're just keeping an eye on them for the next generation.. and by chopping them up and molesting them, we're closing the door of opportunity for th e next generation to admire and appreciate these relics of days long past.
But everybody has a different view on things.
