Way back when dinosaurs walked the earth, that whole power was the way to go, except that everyone used a Camaro clip and a 350. Same thing, really, and interchangeable for this application. I personally would go with the 305 and fuel injection if I was to go that way - more power, better fuel economy - but mine is a 1-ton, and in good original condition, so I'll either be restoring it to near original specs or I'm thinking diesel power.
