Well here's my vision. I have always wanted to turn it into a 'rod. Not that I don't like restorations...it's just not what I ever wanted to do with the truck.
I have the complete truck, including extra fenders front and rear that my grandfather had in the barn. I wanted to put a v-8 in it, so my dad had talked some guys and was informed that a clip with the steering box way up front would reduce the angle of the steering column? (Mind you..at this time the last thing I was thinking about was this truck...college..exams..girls..) So he got ahold of a 76 Pontiac Ventura. Same as a Nova. It's got a 305/4 spd. The plan was to take the front clip and merge it with the stock frame. I would also utilize the rear end under the truck.
Now I see where an s-10 swap seems to be the trend. I have little to no experience fabbing stuff, welding or anything that will help on this project! LOL. But, I want to learn and be as good as my father and grandfather. I guess I'm anxious to see if this pontiac swap will work, or if I should shell the idea and start searching for an s-10 frame? Guess it's all in what I want to do.
Yeah. Chattanooga is very nice. Been here 3.5 years now and I love it.
