I do not like webshots myself.

I had an account with them, and they would send me annoying emails all the time telling me I had not accessed my account in X number of days and why don't I add some pictures?

I got tired of that, so I deleted everything I had in there.

Then they started emailing me that they were going to delete my user name and account. My attitude was "yay, finally!."

They did delete my account, it was gone(could not login, etc.) for the better part of a year. Then, suddenly, mysteriously I started getting emails from them again.

My account came back from the dead, and there is not an option to delete it.

Personally I think it is a way they have of padding their numbers about the number of users they have to the advertisers and/or stockholders.

The best way to upload photos would be to use your own personal webspace, of which each internet service provider provides at least 10 megabytes of webspace, usually per email address. The broadband accounts like DSL and cable modems, I have read of them having anywhere from 50 megabytes to a few hundred megabytes of space for your account.

Earthlink, for those of you that use them, has a new service called 'weblife' or something like that, which charges 3 bucks extra a month for a gigabyte of webspace which you can use for pictures and/or a place to back up files.

I have been playing around with the google picasaweb, so far it is pretty neat for what it is and the fact that it is free. They are still working the bugs out. I am not a big fan of having to download a big program in order to use it more efficiently though. The picasa program is about 20 MB's or so, and when you run it, it scans for every picture on your hardrive, which isn't something I want it to do. You can upload about 5 images at a time through a active x control in your browser, but that can quickly get tiring if you are uploading lots of pictures from an event like a car show.

Picasaweb is neat in that you can add little captions to each picture, have a slideshow, etc.. You can also have a album of photos online, and choose not to share them with the public.

This is what picasaweb looks like, if anyone wants to check it out:
