Check the Big Bolt forum, I think there was one that got a Detroit conversion in there,
Also, oersonal opinion- the Mercedes 5 cylinder (??) deisel isn't a very good engine. No power, horrible vibration, parts availibility virtually nil and vey expensive if you do find them. I've never seen one with a stick shift either. The Cummins would be a better bet if you want an inline deisel.
