The good news is I was able to get it started tonight. The wire that ran from the ignition switch to the - side of the coil had become disconnected, from where I haven’t figured out yet. Since it was the original wire, I ran my own wire from the ignition switch to the ballast resistor and it cranked right up.
Looks like the coil may have been wired up incorrectly some time ago. I've only had the truck a few months and I have not changed the coil wiring and it looks like it has not been disturbed in sometime. I’m going to try to do some further research before installing the new 12-volt coil.
