Hi 38, believe it or not my 350 is leaking same place on my 37 pickup. I'm not sure but IF I remember correct I don't think there is any kind of gasket that goes there. Its a "press fit". My guess is that it wouldn't hurt to put a little RTV gasket stuff around it. If you are not going to use it find an old cable or some type "cap" and screw it on it. Some of the old cables have been pulled on or something caught them and they will leak between the cable and the the nut you tighten up which I think is my problem. I'm really not worried though as I have a fellow who is fixing me a early model 700 tranny so I can have overdrive but also not all the late model computer stuff. Where you located? Don't see many 38 or 37 around these days.
