As stated above, head bolts need to be wire brushed clean and well oiled before installing. When you torque these bolts, you want to "see" only their value, not that of the Teflon tape and gasket goop.
You started this thread out as a clutch disc question and now you're rebuilding the engine... sure are getting your moneys worth from this forum..have fun, you're doing it right!
