I've got a set of 10 inch wide wheels which I used to run on a '72 (when it was less than ten years old) and then ran on a '75 for years. Both those trucks are long gone and the wheels now are holding up one of my projects.
I don't recall any problems with rubbing, but neither of the trucks were lowered. I last put tires on these wheels in 1984 and don't remember the size.
I liked the look and ride, but the tires then would sure not be called low profile today.
