Like 48bigtrucks, I have a 1992 shortbed stepside and put on 255x15x60 front and 275x15x60 on the rear as I drove home from the dealer now 14 years ago. It drives great, handles great, and looks great. Guess you'd say I recommend wide tires. I have 10" rear rims and 8" fronts, no fender clearance problems. I usually get about 50,000 miles on fronts and 40,000 on the rears.
