When i upgraded my 51 chevy 6volt system to 12 volt. I purchased a whole new wiring harness from jim carters.The wires were marked for all of that , it was really simple. Best thing i ever done was get rid of the 6 volt system. The 12 volt battery really spins that baby over. I did however change all dash bulbs to 12 volt bulbs,head lights,parking,tail light bulbs,dome light,generator. I had to by a voltage reducer(12v to 6v) for the gauges,heater motor,distributor(so the 12 volt did not burn my points up).The six volt starter will be ok to use in the 12 volt system.
