VINs did not exist in 1952. GMC used body numbers and engine numbers. Neither was stamped on the frame. Whether a vehicle was titled by engine number or body number depended on the state it was registered in.
The same goes for '53 Chevies and anything else built in that era. In Texas the engine number was used for titling until 1956 then the body number was used. You can find your body number on a plate on the drivers door frame. You can find the engine number on a machined boss behind your distributor. You won't find a VIN.
