I guess there are two sides to every story. Years ago a woman noticed my 49 in the driveway and came back a bit later with a minivan full of AD pieces. Wheels, motor parts and a lot of bits and pieces. Some looked okay but most were junk. She wanted $1200 so I sent her away. She ended up selling them to another guy for $100.
Not long after I had a knock on my door and a man had also noticed the truck and said he had a few boxes of old parts which he didn't want and gave them to me. Much of it was good but I could not see using it. I met a fellow and he took a bunch of these parts for the price I paid - zip!
Since then I have had people in this area give me some good parts- and parts I was desperate for. Axles, 16" wheels, transmissions and such. All for nothing and greatly appreciated.
So I am carrying on that tradition whereby I give something away I was probably given and cannot use. Seeing another old truck on the road partly due to my donations is enough satisfaction for me.
Having said all this, I see nothing wrong with a person who has spent big bucks finding and restoring a part but not ever using it, sell it to recoup his costs.
Ironically the fellow who paid $100 for that minivan full of parts was a friend and a while later called me to say he had all these truck parts and could not use them. If I wanted them I could come and get them!
