I agree with that. In a chatroom or ICQ or whatever the message is there for a moment, one person reads it and it is gone forever.
Posts on a forum however will be there forever. If you do a google search on your name or screen name you will find every post you ever made on the internet.
One time in like 1996 I posted on a bulletin board about building sturdy stands for aquariums. To this day I get people emailing me for details about my stands. That is over 8 years now.
