Used to use plain old mineral spirits in a spray bottle to remove formica that had been glued down with contact cement. This was mainly on partical board or plywood but the M/S was the least offensive stuff. It softens the glue....could let it soak into the surface overnight, recoat with contact cement and re-apply new mica.
M/S will also remove over-glue....the C/C balls up and rubs right off.
