There was a specific pre-trip procedure we observed when I was driving a Detroit 8V71 in a 64 Freightliner cabover- - - - -

1. Get in a big argument with the wife before heading to work- - - - -
2. Kick a tire and bruise a couple of toes- - - - -
3. Slip on the cab step and skin up a shinbone- - - -
4. Slam the door on a couple of fingers- - -
5. Pour a cup of scalding hot coffee from a thermos bottle- - - -and spill it in your lap- - - -

The above process assures that you stay whizzed off all day and you drive the thing wide open! The Detroit loves it! Abusing a Detroit engine is like wrestling with a pig in a mudhole- - - -you both get filthy- - - - -and the pig enjoys it!

LOL!
