I used a "personal lubricant" on the dovetail rather than in the track. Not sure how effective it was as it was still a struggle.

I think part of the reason nobody complains about the profile of the typically available windlace is that once you have it in place and discover that it does not contact the door you are not willing to experience installing another version in hopes that it will be better.
