In technical terms, the severity and pain associated with a cut of this nature has a lot to do with the blade rpm, sharpness, type width, and most notable the direction of blade rotation. The radial arm saw blade is gaining on the material while rotating, thus creating more severe injury, if contact with the blade occurs.
